Who is Francine Haskins? Ms. Haskins is an established painter, children's book author, educator, mixed media and fiber artist. She is a Washington, D.C. native and a graduate of the Corcoran School of the Arts. Haskins' has her very own corner in the gift shop at the Smithsonian African American Museum of History and Culture in Washington, DC.
Haskins' installation, "Nana Indigo", portrays an educator and her students, in a school room setting. Through this work she tells the story of giving back to the community, uplifting our youth and providing them with the tools to become world citizens. Haskins use of cloth, paint, and found objects invites us to engage with this 3D composition. The "Nana Indigo" installation and several multi-media works by Ms. Haskins will also be on display, for one day only, at The Textile Collective. Saturday June 30 *12 - 6pm.
